Chairman of the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB), Ezekiel Mutua, has been publicly criticizing musician Akothee for her behavior for nearly seven months.

According to Mutua, Akothee has reformed her behavior, particularly in terms of her dressing and how she has been performing in public.

On September 24, 2019, during an interview with NTV's Ken Mijungu on the Sidebar, Mutua stated that Akothee had reformed her behavior after following his advice.

Mutua had previously criticized Akothee for her behavior, including her decision to perform in public while wearing revealing clothing.

Natamani sana wasanii kama vile Akothee wangefahamu jinsi ambavyo wana ushawishi mkubwa vijana na wajaribu kutumi ushawishi huo kuzalisha muziki ambao unaashiria maadili mema," in a statement he made in February 2019.

Mutua also defended his board's actions, stating that they had a responsibility to monitor and regulate any content that is shown to the public.
