On September 25, 2019, a court order was issued to prevent Kiambu Deputy Governor James Nyoro from making any changes to the county government, dealing him a significant setback in his battle against Governor Ferdinand Waititu.

The court ruling came after a resident filed a petition seeking to have Nyoro removed from office for allegedly overstepping his authority and attempting to make changes to the county government.

According to the court order, Nyoro was accused of violating Article 179(5) of the Constitution by assuming powers that are reserved for the Governor.

Waititu, on the other hand, has been embroiled in a scandal involving the alleged misappropriation of KSh 588 million meant for the construction of roads in the county.

The court has since barred Waititu from accessing the county's offices, citing the need to prevent any interference with the ongoing investigation.
