Former Youth Fund boss Gor Semelang'o is currently serving a 30-day sentence at the Industrial Area remand prison for defaulting on a Sh9 million debt.
Published on September 25, 2019, Semelang'o's case has sparked interest due to his flamboyant nature and claims of being well-connected in business.
As a former chairman of the Youth Fund, Semelang'o was known for his philanthropic efforts and flashy lifestyle, which included having several chase cars and security details.
However, sources close to the matter have revealed that Semelang'o is facing isolation at the prison, with some of his top friends, including Jubilee party secretary general Raphael Tuju, failing to visit him.
Despite this, there are claims that Semelang'o is laughing all the way to the bank, as the judgment is said to be friendlier than expected, allowing him to avoid repaying the Sh9 million debt.
Additionally, Semelang'o is expected to receive Sh54,000 at the end of his jail term, which includes a per diem of Sh1,800 for each of the 30 days he will spend in prison.
