On September 25, 2019, six Members of the Kisumu County Assembly (MCAs) breathed a sigh of relief after their case was withdrawn. The MCAs, including Seth Kanga, Seth Okumu, Jackton Ogendo, Joseph Olale, Joachim Oketch, and Gard Olima, had been accused of assaulting a sergeant-at-arms.

While all of them faced the same count of assault, Olale was also charged with malicious damage to property at the county assembly worth Sh20,000. However, the case was withdrawn after the county assembly's internal organs resolved the issue.

Chief Sergeant-at-arms George Amayo and acting clerk Owen Ojuok told the court that they had agreed to withdraw the case, stating that the matter had been settled through the Powers and Privileges committee. Lawyer Ken Amonde, representing the ward reps, confirmed that the complainants had sought to withdraw the case.

Prosecutor Nyakundi Mokaya also confirmed that the complainants had lost interest in pursuing the matter, saying, “The complainants have confirmed that they do not want to pursue the matter.”
