On September 23, 2019, Boeing announced a compensation plan for families of passengers who lost their lives in the Ethiopian Airlines plane crash on March 10, 2019.
The company will pay $144,500 to each family, with no requirement to waive their right to sue. This compensation will also cover the Indonesian accident that occurred on October 28, 2018.
Boeing CEO Dennis Muilenburg expressed his deepest sympathies to the families affected by the two accidents, which claimed the lives of 157 people, including 36 Kenyan nationals.
According to reports, nearly 100 cases have been filed against Boeing since the crashes occurred, and the company's compensation offer does not affect the families' right to file a lawsuit.
