On September 23, detectives from the Parklands Police Station in Nairobi arrested Allan Andayi, an accountant at the Kericho Law Courts, in connection with the alleged theft of two Land Cruisers.
The vehicles, with registration numbers KBU 933N and KBQ 260Z, had been reported stolen five years ago, but their chassis numbers had been changed.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, detectives established that the two vehicles were among five that were stolen from Nyali and had their chassis numbers altered.
Investigations by the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) revealed that the actual registration numbers for the two vehicles were KBW 122H and KBQ 805T.
The vehicles are suspected to have been stolen from a car yard belonging to Nippon Korea Investment Ltd in Mombasa in 2014.
The Land Cruisers were discovered at the suspect's home in Syokimau last year and were taken to Parklands Police Station for further investigation.
The DCI stated that Mr. Andayi would be arraigned later this week.
