The US State Department has announced the registration period for the highly anticipated 2021 Diversity Visa Program, also known as the Green Card Lottery. The registration period will begin on October 2nd, 2019, at 12pm EDT and end on November 5th, 2019, at 12pm EST.
As announced by the US State Department, a total of 55,000 permanent resident visas (green cards) will be available through this program. The Diversity Visa program provides permanent resident visas to nationals of countries with low immigration rates to the United States over the last five years.
There is no cost to register for the Diversity Visa program, and registration is done free online at dvlottery.state.gov. The State Department urges those who do not meet eligibility requirements to not register.
Key requirements for the US DV lottery 2021 application include a valid, unexpired passport for the primary applicant. However, individuals who are stateless, nationals of a Communist-controlled country, or beneficiaries of an individual waiver approved by the Secretary of Homeland Security and the Secretary of State are exempt from the passport requirement.
The State Department also warns against using third parties, 'agents, or 'visa consultants' to complete registration on behalf of others.
