On Tuesday, the body of Chetan Vyas, the boss of Rai Cement, was discovered inside his bedroom at his home located within the factory premises in Sigowet/Soin sub-county, Kericho county.
According to Kericho Deputy Police Commander Paul Nasio, the suspects gained access to the house through the roof, lifting tiles from the roof and proceeding to the kitchen store before entering the bedroom where Vyas was sleeping.
As reported by Citizen Digital, Nasio stated, "They lifted the tiles from the roof, gaining access to the house through the kitchen store before proceeding to the bedroom where Siaz was sleeping," although it appears this was a misquote and should be "Siaz" is not mentioned in the article, it should be "Vyas" instead.
Upon entering the bedroom, the suspects bound Vyas' hands and legs with a rope, which was also tied around his neck.
The Kericho deputy police commander also revealed that the suspects disconnected the exterior CCTV camera, but their images were captured inside the house, unfortunately, they were wearing masks at the time, making it impossible to identify them.
The gangsters made away with some bags whose contents are unknown.
The body has been moved to Kisumu County Hospital mortuary, and murder investigations are underway to establish the motive.
