September 25, 2019 - The once-promising career of Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has hit rock bottom, thanks to the rise of Deputy Governor James Nyoro. Waititu's association with Deputy President William Ruto and the Tanga Tanga team has become a liability, leading to his isolation from the country's political leadership.

However, Nyoro's own tenure has been marred by controversy. Despite his efforts to establish a favorable system, he has been barred from appointing, reshuffling, or interfering with the county government's executive committee.

Employment and Labour Relations Judge Onesmus Makau ruled that Nyoro should not violate provisions of Section 32 of the County Government Act pending the hearing of a case filed by a Kiambu resident, Marion Njoroge.

Njoroge's petition claims that Nyoro has been exercising powers limited to the governor, violating Article 179 (5) of the Constitution.

According to the petition, 'The 1st Respondent (Kiambu Deputy Governor) is basically acting in clear violation of his powers and the abuse amounts to an abuse of his office as the deputy governor.'
