On Friday, the Karen Country Club will host the Nairobi Edition of the annual Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) golf series, a par 72 course that has been a part of the event's rotation for several years.
The KPA golf series has been rotating between Muthaiga, Royal, and Vet Lab, with Muthaiga hosting the event four times. This Friday's event is the second in the KPA golf calendar, following the first leg in Machakos in February.
As part of the event, KPA has invited its customers and other stakeholders, providing an opportunity for the management to update them on the various services the port offers.
Among the notable participants are two Members of Parliament, Caleb Kositany of Soi and Kieni MP Kanini Kega, who is a great supporter of the KPA golf series.
Other notable teams include Royal Nairobi Golf Club, which has entered the largest contingent, and Machakos Golf Club, which will be represented by its chairman Swarn Singh and several other players.
The event will feature a large field of 200 golfers, with prizes being offered in various categories. The tournament will be held on Friday, with the morning draw starting at 8:30am and the afternoon draw starting at 11:52am.
On the same day, the Ladies Open will be held at Njoro Country Club, starting with a Stableford event of full handicaps. The event will then shift to the Nakuru Golf Club course, where over 100 players are drawn for the morning Stableford event, followed by the mixed foursomes in the afternoon.
On Sunday morning, the main event, an 18-hole medal, will take place at the Nakuru Golf Club course, where some of the country's leading lady golfers will be battling it out for points and prizes.
Leading the home challenge this year will be Esther Karuga, who has been in top form, posting 41 points to claim the Crown Paints tournament last weekend.
