On September 25, 2019, Kenyatta University (KU) took a decisive step against academic dishonesty by revoking the doctorate degree of one of its lecturers.
The lecturer was accused of plagiarizing the thesis of a senior lecturer from Nigeria's Usmanu Danfodiyo University in 2018.
Following conclusive investigations, the University's Vice Chancellor, Prof Paul Wainaina, announced that the lecturer had been discontinued forthwith.
Prof Wainaina also stated that the lecturer had handed in the original doctorate degree certificate previously issued to him, warning that academic fraud would not be tolerated.
