On September 25, 2019, detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit launched an investigation into a link between Njenga Kihato and narcotics seized in Nairobi.

Njenga, grandson of late billionaire Njenga Karume, is suspected of being connected to a defiant drug cartel that imports and smuggles hard drugs and narcotics into the country.

According to detectives, Njenga was the first person contacted by suspects who were arrested in connection to the smuggled narcotics.

Monica Wanda, an employee at Kenya Airways, and Vicky Awiti, a friend of Monica's, were arrested at a night joint in Nairobi where they were partying.

Upon arresting the two, detectives scrutinized their phone data and established that they were in steady communication with Njenga.

This is not the first time Njenga has been linked to controversy. In 2016, he was arrested in connection to Cocaine and Marijuana trafficking in Nairobi's Lavington area.

Additionally, Njenga was arrested in connection to the murder of his girlfriend but was later released due to lack of evidence.
