South Africa's police chief Gen Khehla Sitole has become a victim of crime after thieves stole two television sets from his home in Mpumalanga province.

According to Brigadier Vish Naidu, a police spokesman, the theft occurred without a break-in, suggesting the thieves may have taken advantage of the house being under construction.

Gen Sitole was in Cape Town at the time of the theft, which has raised questions about the security of the police chief's home.

As the head of the police force, Gen Sitole is under intense pressure to bring down high crime levels in South Africa, making his own home a target for thieves.

Gen Sitole's home is currently under construction, and the police are exploring possibilities to prevent such incidents in the future.
