On September 25, 2019, a Kiambu voter, Bernard Chege Mburu, filed a petition with the High Court, seeking to bar Acting Governor James Nyoro from reshuffling the Kiambu county cabinet.
According to the petition, Nyoro had made several illegal appointments, including a decision on September 6, 2019, to swap county executive committee members.
Justice Onesmus Makau of the employment and labour relations court granted the petition, ordering Nyoro to refrain from making any public appointments until the matter is heard and determined.
The court also set October 2, 2019, as the date for the parties to file their responses.
Nyoro took over as Acting Governor after Governor Ferdinand Waititu was charged with graft.
