On May 9 and 10, 2012, a tragic event unfolded in Naisambu area, Kitale, where a man's desperation to avoid child support led him to commit a heinous crime.

Samson Kamau Njoroge, a married man, was found guilty of murdering his girlfriend, Alice Wangui Kamau, and dumping her body in a borehole in his compound.

According to the court, Njoroge had attended a court case where Wangui was seeking child support for their son born in 2008. Fearing the consequences, he decided to take drastic measures.

On the fateful night, Wangui went missing, and her family received distress calls from her phone, indicating that she had been kidnapped and was being raped repeatedly. The police launched a search, but Njoroge's compound remained a key area of interest.

As the investigation unfolded, evidence pointed to Njoroge's involvement in Wangui's murder. His maid, Veronica Njeri, testified that he had not spent the night at home on the fateful day and had washed his car in the morning, leaving for work without his vehicle.

Further investigation revealed that the borehole in Njoroge's compound had a new padlock, and the police later retrieved Wangui's body from the borehole. Njoroge was arrested and brought back to the compound with the police, where the body was found.

Despite his denial of the crime, Njoroge's alibi was weakened by circumstantial evidence. The court found him guilty and sentenced him to 25 years in prison.

Justice Hillary Chemitei delivered the ruling, stating that the evidence presented had linked Njoroge to the murder of Wangui.
