On September 25, 2019, a tense atmosphere surrounded the burial of Dutch businessman Tob Cohen at the Jewish Cemetery along Wangari Maathai Road in Nairobi, Kenya.

As the burial ceremony came to an end, a crowd of around 50 people, including Cohen's brother Bernard, became agitated and began to stone vehicles carrying Sarah Wairimu Cohen, Tob's widow, who was visibly distraught.

Police, who were heavily armed, quickly intervened and whisked Sarah away to a police van for her safety.

The burial was attended by a small group of people, with some notable absences, including Cohen's close relation, Gabrielle Van Straten, who had flown out of the country earlier that day.

Van Straten had chosen to leave Kenya after learning that Sarah Wairimu, the main suspect in Tob Cohen's murder, would be attending the burial.

At the time of the burial, Sarah Wairimu was being held at the Langata Women's Prison, awaiting a court hearing in her case.
