Published on September 25, 2019, Kenyan athlete Kumari Taki is gearing up to compete in the 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar, from September 27 to October 6.

Taki, the 2016 World under 20 1500m champion, has intensified his training at Kasarani stadium after being selected by Athletics Kenya to replace injured Elijah Manangoi.

With a pulsating atmosphere expected in Doha, Taki is confident that he will clinch a gold medal, following Kenya's second-place finish in the previous edition of the event in the UK.

Joining Taki in the competition are three-time Diamond League winner Timothy Cheruiyot and George Manangoi, who will be making his debut, as well as Alex Oloitiptip, who is ready to roar in the 10,000m race.

The 1500m and 10,000m squad will leave the country on September 28, with a first batch of athletes having already departed on Monday evening.
