On September 24, 2019, Tob Cohen, a Dutch businessman, was finally laid to rest at the Jewish cemetery in Nairobi, following a long delay due to the unavailability of 10 Jewish priests and a Rabbi.
Among the mourners who attended the burial was Sarah Wairimu, Cohen's estranged wife, who is accused of killing him. She was escorted by prison officers to the cemetery on Wangari Maathai Road shortly before 3 am.
Wairimu was seen holding a white handkerchief and wiping her tears as priests performed final rituals in line with Jewish traditions.
"Those who killed Tob to stop pretending to be sheep," Wairimu was quoted as saying by The Star.
The casket carrying Cohen's remains was lowered into the grave a few minutes to 5 pm, with prominent Kenyans in attendance, including former government spokesperson Muthui Kariuki, President Kenyatta's cousins Ngengi Muigai and Captain Kung'u Muigai, as well as lawyers Cliff Ombeta and Philip Murgor.
Members of the Kenyan Jewish community and officials from the Dutch Embassy in Nairobi also attended the burial.
