Published on September 25, 2019, Gor Mahia FC, the reigning Kenya Premier League champions, are facing a severe financial crisis ahead of their CAF Champions League clash against USM Alger.
The team is reportedly in need of KES 12 million to cater for two months' salary arrears and expenses for the upcoming match.
According to Gor Mahia CEO Lordvick Aduda, the team lacks funds and is in dire need of the money to cover various expenses, including return air tickets and transport for match officials, stadium hiring, security, local transport for the away team, and accommodation for the match commissioner and officials.
Aduda explained that apart from the KES 10 million owed to the players as two-month salaries, the team also needs KES 2 million for the CAF match, an amount they currently do not have.
