On September 22, 2019, a brutal attack shook Kericho when Chattan Vyas, a general manager at Rai Cement Limited, was tortured and killed in his house.
According to police, Vyas was strangled to death after his hands and legs were brutally tortured.
Investigations revealed that three attackers gained entry into the house by removing tiles from the roof in the kitchen area.
“Preliminary investigations reveal that the killers climbed up the roof of Chattan’s house, removed the roofing tiles, jumped into the kitchen and, thereafter, went into his bedroom, where they tortured and killed the victim,” Nasio told Mahakamani News.
The killers are suspected to have stolen an unknown amount of cash during the attack.
The body of the tycoon was discovered by the househelp, who had been taking breakfast to him, between 11pm on Sunday and 4am on Monday.
Police were initially looking at CCTV footage to identify the suspects, but reports indicated that the cameras were tampered with before the attack.
