The gruesome murders of Judy Wanjiku Mwai, 73, and her daughter Catherine Nyaguthii Mwai, 47, in their Nairobi home have left police scrambling for leads. The two women's bodies were found on Monday inside house number 275 within Golden Gate Court in South B Estate.

According to preliminary findings, Judy was strangled using a sisal rope, while Catherine's body was found on the floor with injuries on her neck, indicating strangulation. The police suspect they were killed on Sunday night.

On the fateful night, the two women had failed to visit Judy's father, John Mwai, in a city hospital, prompting a relative to go to their house on Monday evening, only to find them dead. The police are now focusing on identifying the driver of a black SUV who dropped the two women at their house at 2:30 am on Sunday.

As the investigation unfolds, police are also trying to determine the motive behind the killings. Nairobi police boss Philip Ndolo said no arrest had been made, adding that they had not established the motive of the killings.

Police suspect more than two people were involved in the killings, citing signs of struggle in the house. The bodies were taken to a Nairobi mortuary, and detectives from Makadara DCIO are busy trying to piece together the circumstances leading to the killings.
