On September 25, 2019, Sarah Wairimu, the widow of tycoon Tob Cohen, attended her husband's burial at the Jewish Cemetery in Nairobi, despite initial objections from his family.

According to sources, Cohen's family had hoped to block Wairimu from attending the burial, but a court order allowed her to do so.

Wairimu laid a bouquet on her husband's grave and addressed the mourners before being whisked away to Lang'ata Women's Prison.

As she was being driven away, some people in the crowd stoned the cars.

Wairimu had arrived at the cemetery at 2pm, tightly sandwiched between two prison orderlies, with at least a dozen armed prison officers watching her.

She told the mourners of her love for Cohen and hoped he would find justice.

Despite the initial delays, the burial concluded more than an hour later, with at least 1,000 people in attendance.
