On September 25, 2019, the body of Tob Cohen, a Dutch tycoon, was laid to rest in a Jewish cemetery in Nairobi, Kenya, following a farewell ceremony attended by prominent leaders and family members.
During the ceremony, Cohen's widow, Sarah Wairimu Kamotho, delivered an emotional speech, assuring the mourners that she would fight back against those responsible for her husband's death. She vowed that those who killed her husband would soon be convicted.
Speaking at the burial, Tob's brother, Bernard Cohen, said, 'We're here to bury Tob a second time; this time with dignity.' The burial was conducted in accordance with Jewish customs, with the body being moved from Chiromo Mortuary to the Jewish cemetery located on Wangari Maathai Road.
Notably, the burial procession was led by a Jewish priest, who conducted the final rites. The priest was the only person allowed to proceed to the graveyard, while the widow and other mourners were kept at a distance.
President Uhuru Kenyatta and the Dutch ambassador, among other prominent leaders, attended the burial ceremony.
As the mourners departed, Sarah Wairimu Kamotho's determination to see justice served was clear, as she vowed to fight back against those responsible for her husband's tragic death.
