On September 25, 2019, investigators summoned five Kisumu MCAs over claims they assaulted the assembly's sergeant-at-arms, George Amayo, in chaotic scenes at the Kisumu County Assembly chambers.

The five MCAs, Joachim Oketch, Joseph Olale, Seth Okumu, Ojwang Ogendo, and Seth Kanga, were grilled by the County Directorate of Criminal Investigations boss, Kipkorir Towett, to unravel how Mr. Amayo was attacked.

Mr. Amayo, a licensed firearm holder, reportedly shot in the air to scare off the MCAs. The incident occurred last year after chaos erupted at the assembly.

Mr. Towett stated, 'Yes, it is true we have summoned them and we will grill them.' However, by noon, the ward reps had not yet recorded statements.

The development comes barely a few days after MCAs controversially impeached Speaker Onyango Oloo in a session where another junior sergeant-at-arms was attacked.
