Four Killed, 16 Injured in Murang'a Matatu Accident

On Tuesday evening, a devastating matatu accident occurred at the Maragwa bridge on Murang'a-Kenol Road, claiming the lives of four people and injuring 16 others.

The accident happened when the driver of a lorry lost control of the vehicle and veered into the lane occupied by the matatu, resulting in a head-on collision.

The matatu was traveling from Nairobi to Murang'a town, while the lorry was moving in the opposite direction.

Confirming the incident, Murang'a County Police Commander Josephat Kinyua stated that one person died instantly, while the other three succumbed to their injuries while being rushed to the Murang'a Level 5 Hospital.

Out of the 16 injured, three are reported to be in critical condition.

The two vehicles were towed to Maragwa Police Station as investigations into the accident continue.
