Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is set to return to action on Wednesday against Rochdale in the Carabao Cup, after recovering from an ankle injury.

United will host the League One side in the third round of the Carabao Cup, and Pogba's return will be a significant boost for the team, especially ahead of a pivotal Premier League clash with Arsenal on Monday.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that he will rotate his squad, and Pogba will play against Rochdale, before facing Arsenal.

“He’ll probably get some minutes against Rochdale. But we definitely think he’s ready for Arsenal,” Solskjaer said.

Additionally, 17-year-old striker Mason Greenwood will also return to the squad, after missing the 2-0 defeat to West Ham on Sunday due to tonsillitis.

Greenwood scored a match-winning goal against Astana in the Europa League on Thursday and will be United’s only recognised striker in the squad, following Marcus Rashford's injury.

However, Rashford will be unavailable for selection against Rochdale, and the club has confirmed that the extent of his groin injury is currently unknown.

Other players who will miss the match include Luke Shaw and Anthony Martial, who are continuing their recovery, while Eric Bailly remains sidelined with his long-term knee problem.
