On September 24, 2019, the Labour and Relations Court ruled in favour of embattled Secretary General Wilson Sossion, ordering him to remain in office until his case is determined.
The court's decision has left many wondering what has made Sossion stick at KNUT like a tic, and what benefits he is receiving from the Teachers Union.
Earlier this year, Sossion was kicked out of office by a faction led by his deputy Hesbon Otieno, but he challenged the decision in court and was reinstated.
Justice Hellen Wasilwa stated that the Knut National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in which Sossion was ousted defied a court order stopping his removal.
Despite the court's ruling, Sossion faces another court case, where he will be determined whether he can hold both the positions of a member of Parliament and that of secretary-general in a union.
Many are questioning Sossion's motives and whether he is truly working to improve the Union and the teachers, or if he is just using his position for personal gain.
