On September 24, 2019, Tob Cohen, a 71-year-old Dutch businessman, was finally laid to rest at the Jewish Cemetery on Wangari Maathai Road in Nairobi.
According to Jewish traditions, Cohen's burial was attended by a Rabbi and 10 Jewish priests, a requirement that had initially delayed the interment by a day.
Among the mourners was Sarah Wairimu, Cohen's estranged wife, who is currently the prime suspect in his murder. She was escorted by prison officers to the venue.
Others in attendance included former government spokesperson Muthui Kariuki, President Kenyatta's uncle Ngengi Muigai, cousin Captain Kung'u Muigai, and officials from the Dutch Embassy in Nairobi.
Cohen, who had lived in Kenya for 32 years, was found dead on September 13, 2019, in an underground water tank at his home in Kitisuru, Nairobi. He had been missing since July 19, 2019.
