On September 24, 2019, US President Donald Trump addressed the UN General Assembly in New York, highlighting the administration's efforts to promote human rights and dignity worldwide.

Trump emphasized the importance of protecting LGBTQ individuals from persecution, stating, "We stand in solidarity with lesbians, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) people who live in countries that punish, jail or execute individuals based upon sexual orientation."

He also championed women's rights, asserting that nations that empower women are more prosperous, safer, and more politically stable.

However, Trump's speech was criticized for its lack of mention of African countries, despite the continent's significant LGBTQ and women's rights issues.

Trump also took a firm stance on immigration, condemning open border policies as "cruel and evil" and emphasizing the importance of protecting national borders.
