On September 24, 2019, the Kenyan government issued a warning to foreigners living in the country to verify their work permits following a sting operation by the Immigration Department.
Police had arrested two individuals in connection with the issuance of fake work permits to several firms across the country.
According to a statement by the Interior Ministry, those who may have obtained work permits from suspicious sources should visit the Immigration Offices to confirm whether they have genuine documents.
The ministry also warned that anyone caught holding fake or fraudulently obtained work/residence permits would be prosecuted.
Investors, expatriates, and persons seeking residence status were advised to engage the Department of Immigration Services directly through established systems and procedures.
Police are still searching for the suspects' accomplices who are on the run.
