On September 24, 2019, Kenya's U-20 team faced Tanzania in the Cecafa Challenge Cup at the FUFA technical Centre in Jinja, Uganda.

Austine Odhiambo, an AFC Leopards forward, scored the first goal for Kenya, his second in as many games, giving his team an early advantage.

However, Tanzania fought back, with Albert Simchimba scoring twice, including a hat-trick in their opening match against Ethiopia.

Patrick Otieno scored again for Kenya, but Tanzania equalized through Abdul Hamis, securing a 2-2 draw.

"We are playing very well just that maybe we need to learn how to protect a lead," said Odhiambo after the game.

The draw leaves both teams with four points each, on the brink of qualification to the quarter-finals of the tournament.
