On September 24, 2019, Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi appeared on NTV's 'People and Politics' to discuss a recent assassination attempt on his life.

According to Wamatangi, the incident occurred at a petrol station in Eldoret, where a truck nearly knocked him down. Eyewitnesses reportedly screamed in shock, and Wamatangi believes this was an assassination attempt.

Although Wamatangi did not provide the exact date and location of the incident, he hinted that it was linked to his involvement in the Ruaraka land scandal. The scandal had previously led to a public exchange of words between Wamatangi and Nairobi businessman Francis Mburu, who had accused Wamatangi of accepting a Sh100 million bribe to write a favourable report on the land's ownership.

Wamatangi had denied the allegations, challenging Mburu to provide evidence to support his claims. The senator's appearance on 'People and Politics' was part of a panel discussion that included Rarieda MP Otiende Omollo, Kericho senator Aaron Cheruiyot, former Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo, and Eseli Simiyu.
