On September 24, 2019, two students were rushed to Tenwek Mission Hospital in Bomet after their alleged attempts to commit suicide went wrong.
A 13-year-old girl from Chebulu Primary School was found unconscious at her home after missing her morning classes. According to Bomet Police Commander Musa Imamai, she had consumed acaricides, a pesticide used to kill termites and ticks.
Meanwhile, in Chepalungu, a 15-year-old boy from Itembe Secondary School was found attempting to hang himself from the roof collar beam with a towel tied around his neck. His colleagues managed to untie him and alert their teachers, who rushed the boy to the hospital.
The county police chief confirmed that investigations into the two incidents are underway.
