On September 23, 2019, a relative visited the home of Judy Wanjiku Mwai, 73, and her daughter Catherine Nyaguthi Mwai, 47, in Golden Gate court, South B estate, Nairobi, but found no response.
Upon checking the bedrooms upstairs, the relative discovered the bodies of the two women, who were the only occupants of the house at the time of the incident.
According to police and neighbours, the two were last seen on Sunday afternoon when they were dropped by a black four-wheel-drive car.
Police said there were signs of struggle in the house, indicating more than two people were involved in the incident.
Senior police officers visited and processed the scene of the crime before moving the bodies to the mortuary.
Nairobi Police boss Philip Ndolo said no arrest had been made and they had not established the motive of the killings.
“This seems to be murder but experts are on the ground are looking for leads. We are yet to know the motive,” he said.
