On September 22, 2019, Sirisia MP John Waluke criticized his nominated counterpart Maina Kamanda for endorsing Imran Okoth in the Kibra by-election, despite President Uhuru Kenyatta's endorsement of MacDonald Mariga.

Waluke accused Kamanda of rebelling against their party leader, President Uhuru Kenyatta, and working with the opposition, led by Raila Odinga.

According to Waluke, Kamanda's actions are a clear attempt to split the Jubilee party by endorsing the ODM candidate, Imran Okoth.

He also took a swipe at Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kobicho, accusing him of frustrating Deputy President William Ruto.

Waluke insisted that the Jubilee Party board of management should discipline Kamanda for his actions, stating, 'It is now evident that Kamanda is being used by Raila Odinga to split the Jubilee party by endorsing Imran Okoth, the ODM candidate.'
