Beatrice Elachi Slams McDonald Mariga's Candidacy for Kibra Seat

On September 24, 2019, Beatrice Elachi, a former Nairobi county Speaker, expressed her skepticism about McDonald Mariga's ability to lead Kibra constituency.

Speaking to Citizen TV, Elachi stated that Mariga has little knowledge and commitment for development and cannot match the record of former MP, Ken Okoth.

Elachi challenged Mariga to outline a number of projects he has initiated in the constituency to help the locals out of deplorable conditions.

She noted that despite having an illustrious career as an international footballer, Mariga had not supported young talents in the constituency, making him unfit to replace Okoth whose track record was hailed as outstanding.

Mariga has been facing a series of challenges ever since he was installed as the ruling party's candidate for the city parliamentary seat.

A section of Jubilee politicians led by nominated MP Maina Kamanda and his Gatundu South counterpart Moses Kuria have openly opposed his candidature and vowed to support the Orange Democratic nominee Imran Okoth.

Elachi's comments come as Mariga traverses parts of Kibra constituency in a bid to popularise his candidature.
