Published on September 24, 2019, a disturbing case of attempted rape has come to light in Kakamega Central District.

A man in his late 20s, identified as AMM, allegedly tried to rape his 45-year-old mother on September 17, 2019.

According to reports, AMM woke up early and started cutting down trees at their compound, taking some to an unknown destination and leaving others in his cubicle.

His mother later took some of the wood to prepare lunch, but AMM became enraged when he found out, threatening to attack her with a hammer.

AMM allegedly pulled down his mother's skirt, saying he was ready to serve a jail term after having his way with her.

Fortunately, the mother's screams for help attracted the attention of her daughter and other neighbours, who came to her rescue.

Community policing personnel arrested AMM and forwarded him to the police at Isulu Patrol Base.

Appearing before Kakamega Senior Principal Magistrate Hazel Wandere, AMM denied the charges of attempted rape and an alternative count of committing indecent acts with an adult.

He was granted a Sh100,000 bond with a surety of similar amount or an alternative of Sh50,000 cash bail.

The matter will be mentioned on October 3 and heard on November 4.
