On Saturday, AFC Leopards head coach Andre Casa Mbungo secured his first win of the season, thanks to a 1-0 victory over Wazito FC at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega.

Following a 1-0 loss to Kakamega Homeboyz in their season opener, Mbungo made crucial changes to his team, benching Ismaila Diarra, John Wanda, Collins Shivachi, and Paul Were. The changes included elevating Dennis Shikhayi, Hansel Ochieng, Collins Shichenje, and Eugine Mukangula to the first team.

When asked about the changes, Mbungo stated, "When you fail to win in two consecutive matches you have to find a way to improving where dots are failing to connect. I’m happy that we finally won. We also created more chances, so players have to keep doing their best in the team to fit the demands. The season is on and have to get going, all players must realise that."

John Mark Makwata scored the winning goal from the penalty spot, securing the three points for Ingwe and taking their tally to four from three matches.

Makwata expressed his happiness at scoring his first goal in his second match, stating, "My first goal in my second match means a lot to me. The changes made today in the team were so healthy because we reached the opponent’s goal more times than in our previous match. We also had good flow in the match."

Paul Were, who was signed in the last day of the transfer window, was not available for selection due to reportedly failing to attend training. However, he has since linked up with the team in Kakamega ahead of their clash against Chemelil Sugar.
