On September 21, 2019, Isiolo Senator Fatuma Dullo led a relief food distribution exercise to hunger-stricken residents of Oldonyiro Ward. The distribution was a stark contrast to the Sh 147 million allocated to the area last year for drought mitigation, which has yielded nothing.

Senator Dullo has urged the County government to intervene and distribute relief supplies to hungry residents using the 16% of its annual budget allocated for emergencies. She has also called on the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission to investigate how the Sh 447 million allocated for emergency services last financial year was used.

The senator accused the county government of diverting funds allocated to development projects to recurrent expenditure without the knowledge of local people. She cited the example of the Sh 80 million allocated to Ngarendare Bridge, which was reversed without involving the community, leaving them to suffer during the rainy seasons.

Senator Dullo also expressed concern over the lack of bursary distribution to children in Isiolo County, despite the County government launching the initiative last financial year. She challenged elected leaders to ensure that all resources received in the county are put in one kitty, so that the people can benefit instead of doing projects that turn out to be white elephants.

She also challenged Isiolo Governor Dr. Mohamed Kuti to deliver services according to the oath he took and ensure that projects are completed on time. The senator alleged that corruption has paralyzed services in Health, agriculture, and livestock, where locals fully depend on.
