On September 23, 2019, a Kenyan court granted Sarah Wairimu, the estranged wife of the late Tob Cohen, temporary release from custody to attend his funeral.
Justice Stella Mutuku ordered that Wairimu be escorted to the Jewish cemetery in Nairobi for the burial at 2 pm, and directed the Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI) George Kinoti to facilitate her movement to the funeral site.
The court also directed that the order be served upon the Director of Public Prosecution Noridin Haji and the DCI.
Wairimu's lawyer, Philip Murgor, had filed an urgent application seeking leave to attend the funeral, which was certified urgent by Deputy Registrar and directed to be heard inter partes on September 23, 2019.
