Published on September 23, 2019, Ugandan artist Joseph Mayanja, popularly known as Jose Chameleone, has reportedly relocated his family to the United States as he prepares to venture into the world of politics.

At 40 years old, Chameleone is one of the most successful and wealthiest musicians in East Africa. He has made it clear that he will follow in the footsteps of his colleague Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, into politics.

Chameleone is expected to contest for the Kampala Lord Mayor seat on a Democratic Party ticket. However, his decision to relocate his family to the USA has been attributed to the infamous state-instigated violence in Ugandan politics.

Chameleone has witnessed firsthand the mental anguish suffered by the families of Bobi Wine and opposition leader Kiiza Besigye at the hands of state agencies. This has likely contributed to his decision to relocate his family.

Interestingly, Chameleone has already found himself at odds with President Yoweri Museveni, a long-time ally, who recently 'unfollowed' the artist on Twitter.

Chameleone and his wife Daniella recently celebrated their 10-year wedding anniversary and have five children together.
