On Monday, a devastating classroom collapse at Precious Talent Top School in Nairobi left seven pupils dead and 64 others injured. In response, the school has been closed for the week to allow authorities to investigate the incident and ensure the safety of students.
Cabinet Secretary of Education, Prof George Magoha, has assured parents and pupils that the government will take necessary measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.
Magoha visited the school and inspected the classrooms, noting that while some of the structures are stable, others are not. He also promised to visit the injured pupils at Kenyatta National Hospital to check on their condition.
As part of the government's efforts to address the issue, Magoha announced plans to build a new public primary school in Ngando ward, citing the need for more educational facilities in the area.
Magoha emphasized that the government will work towards establishing a new school, with the goal of having it operational within three to four months.
