On Monday, a devastating classroom collapse at Precious Talent Top School in Nairobi left seven pupils dead and 64 others injured. In response, the school has been closed for the week to allow authorities to investigate the incident and ensure the safety of students.
Cabinet Secretary of Education, Prof George Magoha, has assured parents and pupils that the government will take necessary measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.
Magoha visited the school and inspected the classrooms, noting that while some of the structures are stable, others are not. He has promised to establish a public primary school in Ngando ward, where the only existing public school is Lenana School.
Magoha has also pledged to visit the 64 injured pupils at Kenyatta National Hospital to check on their condition.
