On September 23, 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta announced that Kenya and Singapore are exploring the possibility of direct flights between the two countries.

The president made the announcement during a keynote speech at the Singapore Summit 2019, where he highlighted Kenya's role in promoting a closer partnership between Africa and Asia.

Direct flights between Kenya and Singapore would not only strengthen their bilateral ties but also create avenues for cultural exchanges, capacity building, information sharing, and business collaborations between Asian companies and Kenyan companies.

Both countries can also collaborate in building and broadening of transport, communication, energy, ICT, and housing infrastructure, taking advantage of Kenya's strategic location in Africa, skilled labour force, vibrant service industry, and ICT sector.
