Published on September 23, 2019, Manchester United suffered a shocking 2-0 defeat to West Ham at the London Stadium on Sunday, September 22.
Jose Mourinho, the former Manchester United manager, was quick to slam the side's performance, claiming he 'doesn't see any improvement' from the team he managed before his sacking.
However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the current Manchester United manager, has defended his team, saying Mourinho is entitled to his opinion.
Reacting to the defeat, Mourinho told Sky Sports, 'We were bad last season but I don’t see any improvement, even with three new players, players with a positive impact.'
Solskjaer refused to engage in a slagging match with Mourinho, saying, 'Well I think he’s got a right to his opinion. Of course we lost here last year, it’s always a difficult ground to go to and we hope we should do better than we did.'
The Norwegian attributed the defeat to United's failure to create enough chances, observing it was a match that could have gone either way.
He however absolved his players from any blame, saying 'it’s a good group to work with.'
