On September 23, 2019, the High Court in Nairobi made a surprising decision, allowing Sarah Wairimu Kamotho to attend the burial of her husband, Tob Cohen, a Dutch national.
Ms. Kamotho, who is accused of murdering her husband, was escorted by warders from Lang'ata Women's Prison to the Jewish Cemetery on Wangari Maathai Road, where Mr. Cohen's body was laid to rest.
Justice Stellah Mutuku directed the prison authorities to ensure Ms. Kamotho's presence at the funeral, marking a rare moment of leniency in a case that has garnered significant attention in Kenya.
