Kitui County is taking a significant step towards improving food security and livelihoods with the launch of the Inua Mkulima project, dubbed the #ndengurevolution.

On October 10th, 2017, the Kenya Red Cross Society partnered with the Kitui County Government to distribute 400 metric tonnes of green gram seeds to 200,000 farmers across the county. The seeds, worth over Kshs.100 million, will be distributed at the village level.

Kitui County Governor Hon. Charity Ngilu has stated that the county government and the Kenya Red Cross Society will source ready market for the farmers' produce. The project's launch in Kitui South saw the flagging off of 88.5 metric tonnes of the seeds.
