On September 23, 2019, a devastating incident occurred at Precious Talent School in Nairobi, where a two-story building housing class 6, 7, and 8 pupils collapsed, trapping students inside.
The building, made of iron sheets, wood, and metal, was home to over 200 pupils. The collapse sent shockwaves through the community, with residents around Ngong Road rushing to the scene to help.
However, parents of the affected children were left fuming at the slow response rate. Speaking to Citizen TV, one parent expressed their frustration, saying, “The classroom crumbled in the morning we called for help and no one came. This body (of a student) has been lying here since morning.”
Despite the chaos, a bodaboda rider showed remarkable kindness by carrying one of the rescued pupils to the hospital on his motorbike, as there was no ambulance available at the time.
Tragically, only one body has been recovered from the rubble so far.
