Changing a flat tyre may seem like a daunting task, but with the right steps, it can be a breeze. In fact, it's a skill that every driver should know, especially women who often find themselves stranded on the side of the road with a flat tyre.

According to a report, nine out of ten drivers who get a flat tyre are helped by a good samaritan. However, it's always better to be prepared and know how to change a tyre yourself. So, here's a step-by-step guide on how to do it safely and confidently.

Step 1: Assess the Situation

When you get a flat tyre, the first thing you should do is assess the situation. Is it safe to change the tyre where you are? Are there any hazards or obstacles that could make it difficult to change the tyre? If it's at night or in a busy area, it's best to drive to a safe location, such as a petrol station or a well-lit area.

Step 2: Prepare the Tools

Once you've assessed the situation and found a safe location, it's time to prepare the tools you'll need to change the tyre. These include the car jack, wheel spanner, and spare tyre. Make sure the spare tyre is inflated before you start.

Step 3: Loosen the Nuts

With the car jack in place, loosen the nuts on the flat tyre using the wheel spanner. Be careful not to remove the nuts completely, as you'll need to remove the flat tyre and replace it with the spare.

Step 4: Remove the Flat Tyre

Once the nuts are loosened, use the car jack to lift the car until the flat tyre is off the ground. Remove the nuts completely and take off the flat tyre. Place the spare tyre on the rim and hand tighten the nuts.

Step 5: Lower the Car and Tighten the Nuts

Lower the car to the ground and use the wheel spanner to tighten the nuts as much as possible. Check the tyre pressure and make sure the spare tyre is securely in place.

Changing a flat tyre may seem like a daunting task, but with the right steps and a little practice, it can be a breeze. So, next time you get a flat tyre, don't panic – just follow these steps and you'll be back on the road in no time.
