Public participation on the Punguza Migizo Bill is set to kick off in Nairobi on Tuesday, September 24, 2019, as residents gather to share their views on the initiative.

The two-week exercise was prompted by a debate on the bill that was suspended at the Nairobi County Assembly two weeks ago to allow for public input.

According to a public notice by Nairobi County Assembly Clerk Jacob Ngwele, the two-day exercise will take place at various locations across the city, including Kariokor Social Hall, Kahawa West Market parking area, Umoja I Ward grounds, Riruta Waithaka Social Hall, Jericho Social Hall, and Karen Social Hall.

Residents of Stahere and Mathare sub-Counties will gather at Kariokor Social Hall, while those from Roysambu, Kasarani, and Ruaraka sub-Counties will meet at Kahawa West Market parking area.

Residents of Embakasi East, West, Central, South, and North will gather at Umoja I Ward grounds, while those from Westlands, Dagoretti North, and South sub-Counties will meet at Riruta Waithaka Social Hall.

On the same day, residents of Makadara and Kamukunji sub-counties will meet at Jericho Social Hall, while those from Lang'ata and Kibra sub-Counties will converge at Karen Social Hall.

After the public forum, the County Assembly's Justice and Legal Affairs committee will embark on report writing, with the report to be tabled before the Assembly for debate on whether to reject or approve the bill.
